Dance Master Class 2010

In October 2010, wannabeamazins favourite dancer - Vincent de Lima - put on another cracking tour de force of hip hop dancing for all abilities at Pinner Fitness First. Places for the class were sold out way before the event. A massive thank you to Vincent, Pinnar Fitness First (for providing the location free of charge), Orly Harris (for organising) and all those that attended. We hope this may become a regular annual event...

End-to-End Cycle Challenge

Over the Easter period in 2010, a team of 6 individuals completed the gruelling challenge of cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats. The epic trip, a total of 995 miles over 15 days, raised over £7,000 for wannabeamazin and its projects in Uganda. Click here to read the full story...

The crazy 6!

Katy Oliver Completes Marathon!

In April 2010 Katy Oliver ran the London Marathon on behalf of wannabeamazin raising over £700. Despite carrying injuries Katy managed a very impressive time of 3 hours 30 minutes - congratulations Katy!

Charity Status Obtained in the UK

January 2010 was a momentous occasion in the history of wannabeamazin as we received confirmation from the UK Charity Commission that we have successfully passed the criteria to register as a charity (No: 1134195). Since 2007 we have been operating as a not-for-profit organisation, gaining charity status is a significant step in our evolution as an organisation and will help in the generation of funds for our programmes in Uganda.

Partnership with Snapshut

In January 2010 Wannabeamazin were excited to announce a special partnership with Snapshut - an up-and-coming streetwear brand based in London, UK. Snapshut produce simple yet bold art-inspired designs printed on soft bamboo T-shirts sourced from ethical manufacturers. 5% of profits from the sale of Snapshut bamboo T-shirts will go directly to wannabeamazin. Dance Master Class 2009

In 2009 Vincent de Lima, professional stage dancer, put on a tour de force of hip hop dancing for all abilities at Pinner Fitness First. Places for the class were sold out way before the event, and a second masterclass is due to be scheduled by popular demand for 2010. We’ll post further details as soon as the date is confirmed so keep an eye on the get involved page if you are interested.

Holy Trinity School

Through the kind efforts of Anita Benfield and Liz Bowyer, the pupils at Holy Trinity School collected over 1000 books in 2009 to be used in our Resource Centre in Bajjo.

Ploughmans Lunch Fundraiser

In the summer of 2009 Anita Benfield hosted a Ploughmans lunch fundraiser in her backgarden. It was a great day, with over 50 attendees, and the sun even managed to shine! A big thank you to Anita and all those who attended.

Pub Quiz and Raffle

In the summer of 2008, just before the team set off for Uganda, we hosted a pub quiz and raffle in central London. It was a great success, with a huge turnout. Watch this space for the pub quiz 2009 extravaganza!

The London Marathon

In 2008, Neil Hankinson completed the London Marathon, raising over £1,000. If Neil has inspired you to run next years marathon why not run it for wannabeamazin!

'3 Peaks in 3 Days' Challenge
