...Our Programmes
.
We run a variety of programmes at each of our project sites.
wannabeamazin programmes: The staff at wannabeamazin have authored 4 programme manuals; art, creative studies, sports and a junior programme.
English: We use the national curriculum English text books to teach English to adults in the community to help develop confidence and possible job opportunities.
HIV Prevention: We run an innovative HIV Prevention and Awareness programme in local secondary schools called Whizzkids United which was co-authoured by one of our trustees for a charity operating in South Africa.
Community Party: We run Community 'parties' (sports tournaments) as a way to get the whole community together (young and old) to provide a fun day of activities and, ultimately, deliver an important health message to the community.
The programmes ran at each project site vary slightly according to the skills of local employees and resources available. The starting point for any of the programmes is to establish a Resource Centre in the community.
wannabeamazin Programmes...
Our programmes are designed to encourage creativity and personal development through on-going, structured activities. Each programme uses themed learning to increase the children's awareness of themselves, the environment around them and the world in which they live.
The programmes are designed to offer on-going activities throughout the year, giving the children something enjoyable to look forward to, while providing them with a structure in which to learn and develop skills.
Each programme will introduce the children to a different area of interest and encourage each child to set themselves goals and achieve small levels of success throughout the course.
Ultimately we are aiming to get the children to think about their future, where they want to go, and how they are going to get there.

wannabeamazin Art
Children learn a range of artistic skills, from basic drawing and painting, to shading and story boarding, with different themes developing over a number of sessions.
wannabeamazin Creative Studies
Children are given the opportunity to use their imaginations to create their own stories, characters, events, perform role-plays and read a variety of poems and short stories.

wannabeamazin Sports
The Sports programme introduces children to eight different sports, where both boys and girls are given the opportunity to compete on an equal level.
wannabeamazin Junior Programme
A 'Junior Programme' runs in line with the main programme for younger children (P3 to P5 in Ugandan Schools), combining a mixture of sports, arts and creative studies.
Whizzkids United
The programme uses football as a fun and interactive tool to teach children the valuable life skills that will prevent them from contracting the HIV virus.
For further information please see the Whizzkids United website.
