...what we do
At The Basic Level...
We establish Resource Centres in rural communities in Uganda, providing the local residents with access to Art equipment, Games, Sports Equipment and a Library.
By establishing a Resource Centre and providing the tools for programmes and initiatives to be run in the community we aim to:
- Increase Creativity
- Raise Awareness and Education on Health Issues
- Provide a regular, enjoyable activity
- Encourage participation in sports to increase overall fitness and promote teamwork
- Increase interaction between the youth and the elders in the community
- Encourage a reading culture to develop
Our Resource Centres...
We do not seek to contruct new facilities, rather we establish a base in an existing community building (ideally a School). By doing this we aim to:
- Maximise the use of existing facilities
- Maximise the use of our funds
- Create a strong relationship with the local school (vital for creating a 'reading culture' among the youth)
- Provide the school with some additional facilities (our way of saying 'thank you')
In each Resource Centre we provide:
- Art Equipment (pencils, crayons, colouring pencils, rubbers, rulers, paper)
- Sports Equipment (Footballs, Netballs, Volleyballs, Handballs, Rugby Balls)
- Games (local favourites: ludo, draughts, playing cards and chess)
- A Library (English Language and local language books, both educational and novels)
- Sports Pitches (Netball, Football and Volleyball)
Our Programmes...
We run the following regular programmes from our Resource Centres:
- Art Club
- Creative Studies
- Sports
- Football Training
- Netball Training
- English Classes
- Community 'Parties'
- Whizzkids Lifeskills (HIV Awareness and Prevention)

Local Govenance...
We have the philosophy of only employing local people from the communities in which we operate. By doing this we seek to:
- Increase the skill of local residents (project management, budgeting, planning, reporting and organisation)
- Provide an income stream for local residents
- Give the community a sense of ownership (a community council oversees the running of the project)
